An act of kindness is shown through giving, supporting, listening, and helping. There are many ways to show kindness.
Most people appreciate it, most believe it's very important. It's a natural human response: We often feel warmer toward those we care about. Thus, it's no surprise that kindness appears to be contagious. There are many reasons to be kind.
Kindness is a particularly important virtue in Buddhism, where it is considered part of Right Speech (Samma Sacca) and Right Action (Samma Samma Kamma). Buddhist monks are often expected to be kind, respectful, and appreciative of others, and are expected to be helpful to others in need.
In Christianity, Jesus teaches his followers that "by their fruits ye shall know them", meaning that a person's actions should reveal their true character. Most Christians believe that kindness, compassion, and humility are qualities that are especially valued.
The importance of kindness is also emphasized in Muhammad's teachings, where he states that “Fear Allah wherever you are. And follow up a bad deed with a good deed and it will wipe it out. And behave towards the people with a good behavior.”
The old saying goes, "A kind word goes such a long way."
